From The Frontlines To The Boardroom
Chris’s leadership journey began at just 17 when he and a team of enthusiasts saved a local railway line from closure—a project that thrives today as the popular Nene Valley Railway. His early business acumen developed at UCL; while studying Economics, he was asked to take over the loss making student union beer festival and then to chair the committee supervising UCL Unions highly profitable enterprises managing 60 staff.
Seeking a greater challenge, he joined the Royal Engineers, graduating from the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the Royal Military School of Engineering. During his service, he didn't just lead soldiers; he innovated, developing a new rapid armoured movement aid that was adopted for active service – the pipe fascine.
Leading Strategic Transformation
After earning his MBA at Cass Business School , Chris established himself as a leading expert in executive mentoring, implementing programs for high-stakes clients including Goldman Sachs and the UK Prime Minister’s Office.
In 1999, Chris was appointed to the Executive Committee of London Underground to lead the cultural and partnership strategy ahead of its massive Public-Private Partnership restructure—the largest PFI of its kind at the time. Transitioning to the financial sector, he was then head-hunted by HSBC's new Investment Bank, where he implemented new global performance management, talent and leadership systems, delivering measurable, bottom-line value.

Scaling Performance At The Highest Levels
Chris's reputation for enabling transformation led him to be asked to go to Zurich by UBS where he helped build the new global bank in just two years — including the first implementation of Entrepreneurial Leadership in the corporate world, which he was instrumental in, now a Harvard Case Study.
Returning to the UK, he was asked by senior leaders in the National Health Service to help implement the first nationwide talent and leadership system for its 1.4 million employees, and subsequently commissioned to author a key report on leadership development in NHS for the UK Government.
